Urgent Care Awareness Month

Urgent Care Awareness Month

urgent care centers in Utah

The Urgent Care Association of America celebrates the contributions that urgent care centers have brought to their communities throughout the month of May.

Urgent care centers like Medallus Medical have changed the healthcare system when it comes to patients having an alternative to an emergency room visit or a doctor’s office visit.   Urgent care centers also offer the convenience of getting treated for minor health conditions such as sprains and colds at lower costs in comparison to emergency rooms.  Urgent care clinics offer the medical benefits of your family physician without the extra costs and hassles of the emergency room.

The primary advantage to visiting one of our Medallus Medical urgent care clinics is that you will be attended to on a walk-in basis.  This means no appointment is ever needed, which is great when you haven’t planned an appointment ahead of time, or a sudden health concern arises.

Here are some of the benefits of visiting an urgent care center like Medallus Medical:

  1. Major insurances accepted: Some retail clinics will not offer a variety of accepted insurance policies, making it difficult to receive that “convenient” walk-in doctors visit at an urgent care center. Medallus Medical centers and our providers are in network with an array of health insurance plans, and we also offer a discounted membership program, making it possible to receive quality medical care at an affordable price.
  2. Convenient locations: Medallus Medical has nine locations, fully equipped with a laboratory and digital x-ray system. Each location offers walk-in urgent care services seven days a week, with night and weekend business hours.
  3. Family-friendly environment: Medallus Medical treats patients of all ages, from infants to seniors. By having a staff of friendly medical professionals, your family will feel at ease while visiting a facility that’s not familiar.  Our goal is to keep you and your family healthy by offering low-cost healthcare and shortening your wait time for medical attention.

Don’t hesitate to visit one of our nine urgent care centers throughout the Wasatch Front area.  For more information about the services we provide, please call to speak with one of our medical professionals at 877-633-9110.

Get Fit For Spring

Physicals at Medical Center, Medallus Medical

As the weather gets warmer, and the days get longer, you’ll see more people trading in their winter boots for running shoes.

Still feeling sluggish after the winter season and lacking the motivation to get your body moving?  Here are a few tips on how to get active this spring.

Find a way to be active every day

Tweak your daily routine by incorporating activities that are physically challenging. Opt for walking or biking to school or your office, walk during your lunch break, walk around your office throughout the day, and park farther away from your office.  If your office space has a community gym, get your work day started with a quick workout before you have to clock in.

Use the buddy system

Having a fitness partner holds you accountable with sticking to a consistent workout schedule. Having an exercise partner also gives you a tremendous amount of support and motivation to work hard on your fitness goals.

Consider personal training

For many looking to get physically fit, half the challenge is not having a clue what you’re supposed to be doing. Having a personal trainer helps with form correction and providing knowledge on key muscle groups you should be working on.  It’s also another person to keep you motivated on reaching your fitness goals.

Support a charity

Knowing that you’re making a difference in someone’s life may be all the motivation you need. There are various walks and 3k or 5k runs with the event’s proceeds going toward different foundations or scholarships.  Find a cause you’d like to support and start training for it.

Get your annual checkup

Before you begin any physical activity, consult with a physician at Medical Medical.  We want to make sure you’re in good health before you start a new fitness routine by administering a physical examination.

Our comprehensive physical exams include:

  • Vital Signs – blood pressure reading, heart rate, and respiratory rate
  • Visual Exam – visual exaination for any potential conditions
  • Physical Exam – examination of head, neck, abdominal area, hair, nails, and limbs

For more information about our physical exams, please call to speak with one of our medical professionals, or stop by our offices.

Spring Clean Your Home

spring clean your home for seasonal allergy sufferers

Spring is a beautiful time of year where the weather starts to warm up and all types of plant life begins to blossom.  This also calls for tons of pollen not only floating around outside, but also entering your home.  And if your windows have been shut all winter, you more than likely have dust collecting in various areas of your home.  This can cause problems for family members with seasonal allergies.

Here is your spring cleaning guide to keeping your home pollen-free and also getting some much-needed cleaning done.

  1. Keep the shoes outside: Your shoes bring all types of outside germs into your home, including pollen. Keeping your home shoe-less helps your floors stay cleaner, and also helps reduce the amount of pollen entering your home and landing on your floors.
  2. Wipe down your walls: Overtime, build-up can collect on your walls and cabinets, especially if you don’t turn on the exhaust hood while cooking to keep grease from settling in. Remove all the dirt and grime from your walls by taking some time out to wipe down your walls with soap and water.
  3. Wipe down your windows: Your open windows are the main culprit of inviting pollen into your home. Be sure to wipe your windows down not only on the inside, but also take your spring cleaning outdoors to remove spots, smudges, and possible traces of pollen.  And as much as you want to bring the fresh air into your home, keeping your windows closed helps reduce pollen from entering your home.
  4. Dust your furniture: Along with pollen, dust mites are another trigger for seasonal allergies. Be sure to dust tables, chairs, dressers, bookshelves, picture frames, ceiling fans, and doorways around your home.
  5. Vacuum your floors: High-traffic carpeted areas of your home can benefit from a HEPA vacuum cleaner.  HEPA (high efficiency particulate air) vacuum cleaners are useful tools for allergy and asthma sufferers, as they trap 99% of airborne particles larger than 0.3 microns.
