As the weather gets warmer, and the days get longer, you’ll see more people trading in their winter boots for running shoes.

Find a way to be active every day

Tweak your daily routine by incorporating activities that are physically challenging. Opt for walking or biking to school or your office, walk during your lunch break, walk around your office throughout the day, and park farther away from your office.  If your office space has a community gym, get your work day started with a quick workout before you have to clock in.

Use the buddy system

Having a fitness partner holds you accountable with sticking to a consistent workout schedule. Having an exercise partner also gives you a tremendous amount of support and motivation to work hard on your fitness goals.

Consider personal training

For many looking to get physically fit, half the challenge is not having a clue what you’re supposed to be doing. Having a personal trainer helps with form correction and providing knowledge on key muscle groups you should be working on.  It’s also another person to keep you motivated on reaching your fitness goals.

Support a charity

Spring Clean Your Home

Spring is a beautiful time of year where the weather starts to warm up and all types of plant life begins to blossom.  This also calls for tons of pollen not only floating around outside, but also entering your home.  And if your windows have been shut all winter, you more than likely have dust collecting in various areas of your home.  This can cause problems for family members with seasonal allergies.

Here is your spring cleaning guide to keeping your home pollen-free and also getting some much-needed cleaning done.

  1. Keep the shoes outside: Your shoes bring all types of outside germs into your home, including pollen. Keeping your home shoe-less helps your floors stay cleaner, and also helps reduce the amount of pollen entering your home and landing on your floors.
  2. Wipe down your walls: Overtime, build-up can collect on your walls and cabinets, especially if you don’t turn on the exhaust hood while cooking to keep grease from settling in. Remove all the dirt and grime from your walls by taking some time out to wipe down your walls with soap and water.
  3. Wipe down your windows: Your open windows are the main culprit of inviting pollen into your home. Be sure to wipe your windows down not only on the inside, but also take your spring cleaning outdoors to remove spots, smudges, and possible traces of pollen.  And as much as you want to bring the fresh air into your home, keeping your windows closed helps reduce pollen from entering your home.
  4. Dust your furniture: Along with pollen, dust mites are another trigger for seasonal allergies. Be sure to dust tables, chairs, dressers, bookshelves, picture frames, ceiling fans, and doorways around your home.
  5. Vacuum your floors: High-traffic carpeted areas of your home can benefit from a HEPA vacuum cleaner.  HEPA (high efficiency particulate air) vacuum cleaners are useful tools for allergy and asthma sufferers, as they trap 99% of airborne particles larger than 0.3 microns.
